(Dec 3, 2017 - Tyendinaga Township, ON) - In the early morning hours on December 2, 2017 officers with the Napanee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police located a grey Chevrolet Silverado on its roof in the ditch on Highway 2 near the Shannonville Motor Sport Park. There was no driver with the vehicle at the time it was located.
Officers on scene requested the Canine Unit as they suspected the driver to be injured. The driver was located prior to the arrival of Canine Unit, as he was walking on Highway 2 towards his home. The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The investigation determined the 22 year old male from Stone Mills Township was impaired by alcohol and an officer attended at the hospital and completed breath tests, which the male failed.
Cody O'Connor was arrested and charged with "Impaired operation of a motor vehicle" and "Having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood".
The driver was released on a Promise to Appear and has his first court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice on December 19, 2017.
