(Dec 8, 2017 - Kingston, ON)Environment Canada has issued a weather advisory for Kingston, Odessa, Frontenac Islands, Napanee, Consecon, Picton and Sandbanks Park, and a Winter Weather Travel Advisory is in effect for today.
The advisory specifies that bands of lake effect snow over Lake Ontario are shifting northward and will affect areas from near Belleville to Prescott today, including highway 401.
Environment Canada says motorists should be prepared for rapidly deteriorating travel conditions, and that hazardous winter driving conditions are possible in bursts of heavy snow which can cause reduced visibility and quick accumulations. Local snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 cm are expected today.
The lake effect snow may continue through the evening hours and impact the evening commute.
