( Dec 19th, 2017 - Kingston, ON ) A 36-year-old Harrowsmith man has been arrested after a failed attempt to steal fuel while a Kingston Police officer was at the gas station.
On December 18, 2017 at approximately 4:15 p.m. the accused attended a gas station at the corner of Division and Benson Street. He pumped $60 worth of fuel before entering the store and advising staff he did not have money to pay. The man allegedly claimed he would return with money and then wrote a false name on a piece before quickly fleeing the store.
Staff alerted a Kingston Police officer who was also getting fuel and the officer stopped the accused. He was at that point properly identified and found to be wanted on other matters. During a search, officers also found a concealed can of bear spray.
The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day. He was charged with theft, carrying a concealed weapon and seven counts of breach recognizance.
